It was 5 years ago…
We started noticing hubby was slowly getting weaker and losing appetite. We thought he might be catching cold or flu so simply was trying to take it easy and resting up more. However, as days and days pass by, he didn’t get better and also start losing weight.
As kinda a traditional guy, he also refused to go check with doctor so I end up dragging him to ER and that’s the whole story started….
The moment he got admitted to ER, they ran several tests on him and found his hemoglobin was at 4!! A normal healthy male hemoglobin’s count should be between 13 to 17. Generally speaking, when it went down to 4, you shouldn’t even able to walk and I seriously didn’t know how he did it and walked into ER on his own. After tons of tests, ER doctor was not able to identify the cause and any possibilities of why huggy’s hemoglobin dropped so dramatically. He then got transferred into regular room and forced to stay overnight for more tests until they can identify the source.
After another 2 days of endless tests and checkups, the doctor finally confirmed that there was a huge tumor in his colon. Yes, as what you are thinking right now, it is colon cancer.
I still clearly remembered when the doctor came into the room and told us about the news. All he kept saying was I am sorry to let you know about this but it is a mass. At the moment, I didn’t have time to process why it happen to my dearest hubby and I was angry at the doctor because he kept saying sorry rather than explaining in details of what they have found or expressing what options we might have to help hubby. Generally speaking, a normal patient and the family probably started crying and not knowing what to do for the next step. Maybe due to our life experiences and have learned to deal with situations with reasonable doubts plug looking for solutions.
People might wonder that there is really really no any symptom prior ? No family history? No blood in the stool? No nothing to hint that this is coming? Answer is no. Hubby is always healthy, happy and good appetite. No family history or whatsoever. That is why it surprises all the doctors when they find about the mass in his colon.
You will wondering so what now?
Let’s continue the story at next post ~
