Many moms-to-be nowadays definitely consider breast feeding for the little one.
How to select the breast pump to fit you the best takes lot of time to do homework. There are lots of online resources and videos available and you surely will find one with reasonable cost and suite your needs.
Most of the health insurance provides somewhat benefits for mom-to-be with either fully coverage on selected breast pumps or partially coverage on upgrade versions of breast pumps.
After chatting with couple friends and grabbing their breast pump use experiences, I have made my decision on a certain model. I contacted my health insurance to inquire about the coverage information based on my health plan and you should always do so if you are not sure what will be covered. It’s always no harm of trying to get more information.
There are many programs with multiple pharmacy stores provide the service to get the breast pump you would like to have. I decide to go with McKesson program which is also the Target Breast Pump Program. The process is pretty straight forward. Give the program a call, they will take down your contact information and your health plan information. It roughly take about 5 to 7 business days for them to verify with your health insurance company of what coverage is available based on the health plan you enroll with.
Once the information is verified, you will receive an email with detail information of what the next steps are needed. In general, they would also require a prescription from your OB doctor. Simply ask your OB doctor and they will be more than happy to assist with it.
Email the the prescription (either in picture format or PDF format) back to the breast pump program. You then can place order of the breast pump you would like to get.
If it’s for upgrade version (which means not going to be fully covered by your health insurance), the payment is required to be done when place the order.
The whole process went very smooth with my order and when I got an email notification that the breast pump is ready to pick up, my hubby and I were thrilled and can’t wait to get it. (just like getting another toy?? )
Here comes the interesting part. When the breast pump box brought to me, I instantly noticed the box seal is broke. I clearly remembered when I made the phone call to place my order, the lady who assisted me on the phone told me to make sure the box seal is not broken when pick up the breast pump. If the seal is broken, don’t take it.
So, I ask the customer service lady who helped us at store about the broken seal. She was also pretty surprised about and allow my hubby and I to open the box in front of her to check if all the items are in the box before we take it home. As soon as I open the box and grab the bag out, we all super surprise of what we saw…. It was a used breast pump! We can still see the leftover breast milk inside the breast pump collecting bottle. WOW ~~~
I have to really say thank you to the customer lady who actually went above and beyond to try to help us figuring out how to fix this. She made a quick conversation with the store manager and they decided to go ahead of requesting the local warehouse to bring in another brand new breast pump tomorrow. Once it’s here, they will give me a call to pick up.
The trick thing about the program is that once you received the email indicated the product is ready to pick up, you have only 3 days to do so. Otherwise, the order will be cancelled and you will have to go through the whole process again.
The next day, we didn’t get the expected phone call regards to the update. However, before got too late for the day, I decide to give them a call to follow up. Another customer lady answered the phone and she was also super helpful and trying to find out what happen to my order. We were able to pick up a brand new breast pump that night and the store manager also gave us a gift card due to all the inconvenience.
It’s a happy ending. What I truly want to share is that most people gets disappointed easily nowadays when things not going their way or there is a small detour you need to take. I have seen so many customers being rude to the store workers or manager. Whenever things not going your way, pause, think about it and let the other side also have a few minutes to explore what other possibilities they have to assist you. No one deserves to take your unpleasant reactions. Be gentle to each other and there is a way to help each other.
Be Aloha and Live Aloha!
